Suggest Treatment For Sharp Pain In The Toe

I have a long standing and progressive condition affecting my right foot. I pronate so over the years I lost both the longitudinal and transverse arches. I also had a hyper extension injury to the metatarsal phalangeal joint. I have the evidence of a moderate bunion. I wear orthotics. Over the past year I ve developed a sharp pain in my 4th toe. It makes me walk with an altered foot position. I can hardly find shoes that I can wear. The pain is present in a weight bearing position. Bending the joint sends a shooting pain from my 4th metatarsal-phalangeal joint to the tip of my toe. Creating a transverse arch seems to give some relief. Help!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

We have to rule out conditions like arthritis and stress fracture.

As the first line of management, you can try analgesics like Aceclofenac or Tramadol for pain relief.

You can consult an orthopedician and get an MRI scan in case pain persists.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
