Suggest Treatment For Sharp Stomach Pain And Diarrhea

Hi, I m wondering if I should go to the ER or just wait the condition out. I started having stomach pains at about 2am yesterday that woke me from me sleep. They re located at the middle of my stomach above my belly button. To describe it, it feels like there is a lot of pressure constantly. Every now and then, there is a sharp pain that shoots at that spot but travels up my spine to the point where I hunch over. Yesterday, I had the shooting pain every 10-30 minutes. Today, it is an hour-2 hours apart. Today, I m nauseous and I have a lot of diarrhea. Before, everything seemed normal. I was eating normally, going to the bathroom normal, ect. I ve also felt light headed for the past 2 hours. Should I go to the ER, or wait this out? Since the time is being spaced out. Thank you -Emily Patterson

Hi,


Noted your history of severe pain in abdomen above belly button since yesterday, loose motions/diarrhea and nausea now.
Since there is so much pain and now diarrhea you should have rushed to the ER.
The possible causes can be as follows:
Colitis.
Pancreatitis.
Gastritis.
Hence it is most important to have a proper clinical evaluation , examination and urgent investigations:
Ultrasound of abdomen and CT scan to confirm if there is pancreatitis.
Relevant tests of blood like CBC, electrolytes, liver function tests and as advised.
May also need upper GI Endoscopy if gastritis is suspected.
Emergency management of symptoms and proper management of the disease diagnosed.
