Suggest Treatment For Short Term Memory Loss And Weight Gain

I have a low thyroid, hypothyroidism, and take synthroid everyday. I am 66 and on Medicare and get social security. I read on the internet that having Hypothyroidism with all the symptoms that I actually have that I could get SSD or SSDI, I m not sure what the difference is. Is that true that I could get Social Security Disability payments? I seem to have a very strong memory fog, it s more like short term memory loss. Also weight gain I can t lose, and I get hot and cold. I know I can t handle working because I can t even handle keeping my house clean anymore. Please tell me if and how I can apply .

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hi,

Short term memory loss, weight gain and fatigue are signs of hypothyroidism. You are under Synthroid and in these circumstances, I can deduce that you may need doses adjustments of your thyroid medication.

If you were my patient, I will suggest doing the TSH test. This test is necessary to adjust the doses of Synthroid.

My advice is to consult physically your treating endocrinologist for the test, necessary doses adjustment and to discuss with him about the possibility and the specific rules of Social Security Disability payments in your country.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
