Suggest Treatment For Short Term Memory Loss

Here’s my problem my father has short term memory loss and his mental exams(MMSE, WMS-IV) scores only indicate impairment in verbal and non-verbal information retained, and the extent of verbal information lost is significantly impaired. His mother and father both were diagnosed in their 70s with a form a dementia. His mother suffered from anterograde amnesia, or anterograde Syndrome and dementia was an underlying condition?? (I think) they have diagnose him with Alzheimer’s but I feel he has symptoms that are more like or Anterograde Syndrome. But vie researched it on the internet and it says that Anterograde Syndrome is not genetic?? So how could he have it right? He is able to give detailed descriptions in regards to his field of work that he works in from 16 yrs. till he retired. But if I tell ask him what he did yesterday he makes up stories, because he can’t remember
