Suggest Treatment For Shortness Of Breath And Heart Palpitations
Good evening, I am a 55 year old caucasian woman that has been experiencing heart flutters. I had a heart murmur when I was a baby, but they say it has closed. Usually the heart flutters have been once a month or two. The last three days I have been having about 40 heart flutters a day. Is this of concern? There is no pain associated with it, just a flutter, breathless feeling. Thank you.
Heart flutters feeling or palpitations with breathlessness could be due to anxiety or anemia, hypokalemia with some sort of infection to the respiratory tract but should be evaluated further by clinical examination and various tests if it remains constant.
You should undergo ECG,holter monitoring (24 hr heart activity) or 2D echo to rule out any other heart problem and routine blood works, eletrolytes with thyroid profile.
You will need to take symptomatic treatment like broncho-dilators, anti-anxiety medications for which you will need prescription from some local doctor.
So,you should see a physician who may investigate it further to rule out cardiac problems.
