Suggest Treatment For Shortness Of Breath In A Person With Asthma
Hi I have asthma exacerbation since last week Tuesday. Went to ER last Thursday, was given prednisone and albuterol treatments. I Continue to have shortness of breath throughout the day and I have been using the nebulizer everyday, 2 - 3 times together with my inhaler. Just finished a course of prednisone today. I began having constant leg cramps this evening. Are the cramps related to the asthma flare up?
My guidelines at present
- drink more liquids to maintain hydration
- avoid smoking or alcohol if consuming
- care of underlying viral or bacterial infection
- discuss tapering dose of corticosteroid rather than sudden withdrawal
- balanced nutritious diet to combat the immunity level at its best
- better analgesic as Tramadol Hydrochloride or else which will not interfere with the respiratory issues
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wishing you all the best.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
