Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I took a pill of Fluconasol for a yeast infection and 10 minutes later I had a horrible itch around my eye and my whole skin around the eye till the line of my hair turned red almost like wine color. It is also swollen, but only on one side around my eye to my temple. I have taken 2 pills of benadryl but I just get sleepy this is not going down, . This is not the first time this happens, but previously I thought they were spider bites. Now I know it is this medication. Is there anything I can take or do to reduce the itching and the redness. It usually takes 2 weeks before it is almost gone. Please help
Yes your sym are pointing towards allergic reaction only and the itching and rash is due to allergic reaction.
As it happened previously also so first thing that you need to do is to avoid taking Fluconzole in future and also get an allergy test done for confirmation.
For now you can take anti allergic medicine like Allegra or Fexofenadine and apply anti itch cream like Benadryl cream. You can also apply Betamethasone containing ointment.
Do cool compresses over the swelling amd rash frequently throughout the day. Drink plenty of water.
Hope I have answered your query. Please let me know if I can assist you further.
