Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Keppra

We are having a big problem, brother with Oligodendroglioma after 9 years of txt with te major and radiation, later more team dor and infusion monthly for a year, now in trial, no problem with. Nivolamab , leukophoresis, vaccines created form brothers cells, then the removal of the tumor...he was not kept 24 hr then sent home...on keppra , steroid in decreasing dose, now off, with in 2 days, he became paranoid and delusional, he had an episode which he can not remember which reoccurred in the er and at 2 weeks post op where ge starts repeating a sky labor over and over, they say it is normal, I thought it was side effect of the Keppra, brother stated he feels worse when he takes the Keppra, drives the car against orders, threatened the family if the keys are hidden...is the normal for a bad reaction to keppra or what, they meet with the neuropsych MD tomorrow , he should help with dx . Opinion please!!!!!!!!! Duke Brain is never wrong!!!!!!!omg.

Hello Dear. Keppra is used to treat partial onset seizures in adults and children who are at least 4 years old. Keppra is also used to treat tonic-clonic seizures in adults and children who are at least 6 years old, and myoclonic seizures in adults and children who are at least 12 years old.

The symptoms you mentioned in your brother may be due to side effects of Keppra. Kindly talk to your doctor if the drug has to be changed.

Keppra side effects:

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to Keppra: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Report any new or worsening symptoms to your doctor, such as: mood or behavior changes, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, or if you feel agitated, hostile, irritable, hyperactive (mentally or physically), or have thoughts about suicide or hurting yourself.

Call your doctor at once if you have:

1. unusual changes in mood or behavior (unusual risk-taking behavior, being irritable or talkative);
2. confusion, hallucinations, loss of balance or coordination;
3. extreme drowsiness, feeling very weak or tired;
4. bruising, severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness;
5. problems with walking or movement;
6. the first sign of any skin rash, no matter how mild;
7. severe skin reaction--fever, sore throat, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes, skin pain, followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads (especially in the face or upper body) and causes blistering and peeling; or
8. signs of infection--fever, swollen gums, painful mouth sores, pain when swallowing, skin sores, cold or flu symptoms, cough, trouble breathing.

Common Keppra side effects may include:

1. dizziness, drowsiness;
2. feeling tired;
3. weakness;
4. feeling aggressive or irritable;
5. loss of appetite;
6. stuffy nose; or
7. infection.
