Suggest Treatment For Sinus Congestion, Headaches And Elevated Heart Rate

This afternoon I asked my pharmacist to recommend something for sinus congestion, pressure and headache caused by allergy, not infection. I take diltiazem for an elevated heart rate. She recommended an inhaler called fluticasone propionate and a pill , chlorpheniramine maleate. I am also decreasing dosage of a medicine that my doctor gave me to take at bedtime called Lorazapam 0.5 mg. I have been cutting those in half for a week, sometimes taking even less. It makes me too sleepy the next day. Anyway, I have taken the antihistamine about an hour and a half ago, and am overwhelmingly sleepy. I feel so heavily sedated that it is almost scary. Are these medicines interacting to much, or will I simply sleep well?

Hello,

You are feeling sleepy due to antihistamine chlorpheniramine maleate. A nonsedating antihistamine such as loratadine, desloratadine, and fexofenadine, or low-sedating agents such as Cetirizine or Levocetirizine generally are used to avoid sedation.

Diltiazem does not have any known drug interaction with either fluticasone or chlorpheniramine. Lorazepam has an additive sedative effect when used along with chlorpheniramine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
