Suggest Treatment For Skin Infection In The Groin Area

Hi, my name Denise Wright and my question is about HS. I have had this skin disorder for a long time. Its in my groan area and under my stomach. Its wet and slimmy. I ve tried serveral things such as soaking in epsom salt and using all different types of meds. I have been taking doxycycline monohydr 100mg, and nothing seems to work. Do you have any th ing that will cure this skin disorder? Or is it something that I am eating that s causing my skim to be wet an infected. Tell me what should I do? Help! A tried old lady that needs medical attention

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history you are having fungal infection called as tinea cruris. My treatment advice is -
1. Maintain good hygiene and bath twice daily.
2. Apply an antifungal cream like Clotrimazole cream on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine.
4. Other treatment options are oral Fluconazole and Terbinafine taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
