Hello, Dr. P V S Prasad - I was prescribed to wear a Swede-O Arch Lock Ankle Brace (Medical Grade) & made with Thermoskin - Trioxon lining, at the local urgent care after I suffered a severe sprain to my foot & ankle. Over the last approx. 10 days, a rash has developed on the skin on the upper part of the foot from about the bridge of the foot to about 4 - 5 in. above my ankle bone are. The rash sites are approx half-dollar size. Over these days, I have tried to use the brace less, keep the area clean & cool, & I even put rubbing alcohol on it to get it extra clean, but that seemed to work to dry the area & lessen the bumpy feeling to the rash sites. However, these areas are now draining some puss from it leaving behind dried lumps of puss & the skin underneath is swollen with a firmness underneath of something similar to a bee sting site. Also, if/when the lumps are removed, it drains a little more. I tried Neosporin in the beginning, but I read an article that said not to use any oils, so I stopped putting that on it. I also used gauze & a Curad bandage (gauze-like bandage without the adhesive) on it to put a buffer between the skin & the ankle brace. I just learned today that the Thermoskin - Trioxon lining material of the ankle brace captures the body s natural body heat for therapy & pain relief, & provides insulation & wicking of moisture via air circulation. I do not know if I am having a reaction on my skin, like a dermatitis of sorts or if I have an infection probably derived from a topical skin irritation, which may be getting worse. - It is the weekend & any MD ofc. is closed until Mon. - Can you please let me know what your professional opinion is regarding this matter & if there is anything I can take OTC to help stop the itching & clear-up the skin irritation?
