Suggest Treatment For Slight Blood In Ear After Accidentally Poking Inside
My daughter poked her ear with cotton buds... She is 8 years old. There was a tiny dot of blood in the bud... Now she says her ear feels weird and clogs and opens once a while.she has been swimming recently and water entered her ears hence she started with the bud... Pls help she seems worried.
As per my clinical experience, the issue of slight blood in ear with history of swimming does indicate bacterial infection with strep pneumonie most likely rather than fault of cotton plug. My guidelines at present: - Avoid swimming till recovery - Keep the ear plugged with sterile cotton - Prescription of antibiotic drops such as Gentamicin - Aystemic working antibiotic such as Azithromycin or Amoxicillin with Clavulanic acid
Regular follow up with your primary care physician.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
