Suggest Treatment For Slightly Discolored Toe Nail And Inflammation Under It
I have a slightly discolored toe nail and an inflammation (blister) across the back of the right big toe nail. I had a sore toe after a long two day road trip a few weeks ago which recurred yesterday and now blistered. I thought it was gout, which I never have had before but the blister confuses me. I am a 74 year old Caucasian male in otherwise good health. I do have hypertension which i take meds for.
As per my clinical experience, the discolored toe nail and inflammation under it indicates post traumatic hematoma changes most likely. It is the degrdation of collected blood via lysis which shows changes from purple hue to green in sequence basis. My guidelines at present: - Keep the toe clean with antiseptic liquid or soap - Local application of polymycin or neomycin cream - Prescription of antibiotics as cephalosporin or others to prevent secondary bacterial infection, anti-inflammatory medications with serratiopeptidase combination to heal it faster - Avoidance of tight shoes - Avoid walking barefoot - Control of blood sugar
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
