Suggest Treatment For Small Bumps On The Nose

I got my nose pierced just over 4 months ago now. I had really problems with it healing. Got bumps on the outside and am pretty sure had an infection at one point. Now however the bumps outside have gone but it keeps scabbibg up inside around the piercing and just being full of bloody goo that is blood but sometimes has a slight yellowish look to it too. Is this just my body getting rid of the previous infection or should I be worried?

Hello. Thank you for writing us at healthcaremagic

The signs that you mention are suggestive of a low grade smouldering infection at the site of nose piercing.

If I was the treating infection, I would have asked you to complete a course of an oral antibiotics.
I would have started you empirically on either oral penicillins (e.g flucloxacillin, thrice daily for a week) Or Oral Cephalosporins (e.g Cephalexin 500 mg thrice daily for a week).
Oral antibiotics are prescription medicines and I would suggest you to get a prescription for theses from your physician.

Topically you may use an OTC topical antibacterial e.g either 2% mupirocin ointment Or Neosporin ointment, twice daily for a week.

It would be better if you can take out the piercing for a week, so as to allow the infection heal properly.

Regards
