Suggest Treatment For Small Itchy Skin Eruptions On Stomach And Back Inspite Of Using Levocetrizine

Hi, My wife recently experienced a few small itchy skin eruptions (4-5 on the hand, 4-5 on the stomach and at the back, 1-2 on the neck region). The eruptions didn t seem to be allergic and a new one appeared on alternate days. Initially she took avil for 2-3 days but it did not help. After consulting a Medicine Doctor, she took levocetrizine for about 10 days but it did not help. So, as advised we went ahead with complete haemogram test, lipid profile, glucose and thyroid tests. All the results were normal. So, as a precautionary move, the doctor advised for a single dose of zental (2 tablets at a time). It is now 14 days of taking zental and of-late no new eruptions are seen. It seems zental has helped. Please suggest if another dosage of zental is required for the complete treatment. If so, for how for how many days, should she take.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The rash of your wife seem to be related to a parasite infection. Zental should be taken as a single 400 mg daily dose (two 200 mg tablets) for five days. Then you should repeat the stool test. You should consult your general physician for the prescription.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
