General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your seven-year-old son has been diagnosed with Vitiligo. Vitiligo can be hereditary. It occurs due to loss of melanocytes in the skin.

It has been seen that Vitiligo patients suffer from the deficiency of vitamin D, B, B6 & B12. You can give him food rich in these vitamins or give vitamin supplements.

Vitiligo has no cure. It can persist lifelong. There are certain medications & therapies that can stop its spread & help to restore skin tone.

You are suggested to visit a dermatologist or a cosmetic surgeon & get an opinion. treatment may involve phototherapy, exposure to UVA or UVB lights & depigmentation of the skin in severe cases.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
