Dear Dr/sir/madam, My brother who is approximately 36 years old has a severe snoring problem. He is about 6ft tall and is clinically overweight (probably about 13st plus). Apart from having high Bp he has no serious health issues. We are of West African descent, which is were we currently reside. He is worried about this disorder and wonders if there are any medical tips on stopping or alleviating this disorder permanently. Thank you
Hi, thanks for your query. Snoring is a big clinical disorder which needs detailed medical evaluation by specialist. As per your details, being overweight itself is the main cause. If I were your treating doctor, I would have asked your brother to reduce his weight according to his BMI. This will reduce his snoring by about 40 % probably. If symptoms persists, please consult with the doctor and get tested. Hope my answers have helped you. Thanks.
