Suggest Treatment For Sore And Painful Throat

Recently had a fine needle aspirationof a nodule on the right hand side of my thyroid gland after persistent sore throat difficulty swallowing and a hoarse voice affter talking for a while. Have had a multinodular goiter sice 1998 with no prob lems except a hyperthoroid episode in 2011. Blood reading of t3 t4 and tsh eventually returned to normal and no action was taken. as was supposed to have a radioactive iodine tablet but was not needed.Recent blood test normal so as specialist surgeon wanted to take out the right hand side of my thyroid I got a second opinion and was told surgery was not needed. Now have a sore spot on the left hand side and go back to original surgeon on Friday 30th Jan. Needless to say I am confused. Want to avoid surgery at all costs so is there a medication I can take that will help with the fatigue and other symptoms as long as needle aspiration comes back negative again. My email address is YYYY@YYYY . Thanking you in anticipation. Rosslyn Lambert

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Your sore throat has no relation with your multinodular goitre.

For sore throat you should take antibiotics treatment. Augmentine or levofloxacin or azithromycin can be useful in sore throat due to upper respiratory tract infection.

You multinodular goitre is benign so if you have normal thyroid function test then yoy can avoid surgery.
Butregular follow up is required if you want conservagive treatment. Consult your doctor and take treatment accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
