Suggest Treatment For Sore In The Ear

Hi, I m writing you about a very troubling sore on a young boy s ear. I have a pic I can email you and I m wondering if you have ever seen anything like it before? He has been taken to the family Doctor who tried a couple of different creams, but nothing seems to work and this has been going on for quite a few months now, it seems to almost go away then it comes back again. It sometimes seems to spread like a rash too. It is like a little lump, bright red. It is very tender and sore. It doesn t help that he is only 4 years old and he scratches it but we are out of options as to what to do?
