Suggest Treatment For Sore Legs After Vein Ablation

I had a vein ablation done on my left leg due to stage 4 vein disease. It has been sore since I gotten it done, but the last few days I have been going on 2 hr. hikes now my leg is sore to the touch and hurts when I walk. The Dr. started at my knee up to the groin. I have read it can take up to a year to fully heal. Is that a true statement?

Hi,

It is not uncommon to experience soreness and discomfort in the leg after a vein ablation procedure, especially during the healing process. The amount of time it takes to fully heal varies from person to person and can depend on the extent of the procedure and individual factors. However, it is generally expected to take several weeks to a few months for most people.

Some suggestions to help manage the soreness in your leg after vein ablation are:
* Rest and elevate your leg: This will help reduce swelling and improve blood flow, which can help alleviate pain and discomfort.
* Apply heat or cold therapy: Depending on what feels better for you, you can use a heating pad or ice pack to help reduce pain and inflammation.
* Take over-the-counter pain medication: You can use nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen to help manage pain and discomfort.
* Wear compression stockings: Your doctor may recommend wearing compression stockings to help improve blood flow and reduce swelling in your leg.
* Follow your doctor's instructions: Make sure to follow any specific instructions provided by your doctor, such as when to resume normal activities or exercise.

It is important to stay in touch with your doctor and report any unusual symptoms or concerns, such as increased pain or swelling. If your leg pain and soreness persist or worsen, your doctor may recommend further evaluation or treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
