Hello,

Head lice are very sensitive to therapy. As your daughter and hairdresser checked, there may not be any head lice. If you have doubt, you may repeat the treatment. Dryness of scalp with soreness is seen in the following conditions:
1) Seborrhic dermatitis or dandruff
2) Xerotic eczema
3) Chronic granulomatous disease
4) Exfoliative erythroderma
5) Tenia capitis
6) Allergic contact dermatitis
7) Using high chemicals on scalp as to get rid of head lice also can cause dryness of scalp

Treatment depends upon the cause and only with a detailed in person clinical examination, we can arrive at a specific diagnosis and initiate appropriate treatment. So please do consult a dermatologist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
