Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Blocked Nose

I ve been sick coughing up some gunk with a sore throat one day and a stuffy nose for a few days. My Dr. put me on Methylprednisolone becuase it has worked in the past along with a steroid inhaler and regular inhaler. I also have diabetes, hypertension that she has been monitoring and isn t getting better. In a few days I will be taking medication for that b/c there is a high amount of protein in my urine. Today I started the methylpredisolone (and haven t had issues in the past) all day today my lower back (towards the outside and sometimes all the way across) have had significant dull pain which is intensified when sitting. At times it reached my whole back and this evening while laying my bed on my side my neck hurt as well. I have been nauseous most of the day and have had a headache off and on that got worse this evening. I m unable to sleep but too tired to do anything such as school work. I also checked my blood pressure and it was L-162/98 R-158/94 earlier this evening about 9pm they were a bit higher. I am on Amlodipine for the hypertension and astrsovan for cholesterol. Do I need to go in and see somebody tonight due to all these symptoms and feeling so poorly?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
If I see a patient with such history and complaints, I would suggest-
1.stop using steroids unless you have asthma (which you didnot mention). It aggravates both hypertension and diabetes.
2.For your stuffy nose you could first try Antihistaminics like cetrizine.
3.For your proteinuria you could better shift to ACE inhibitors like lisinopril as it helps hypertension also.
4.Your pains could be due to excess of steroids or rarely atorvastatin. So consult your physician to talk about changing the drugs.
5.If you are too sick then you may consult your physician tonight itself.
Hope I clarified your doubts and feel free to know anything else about your health.
