Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Ear Congestion

I went to the doctor yesterday because I had a sore throat and my ears seem to be clogged but they did a strep test and it came out negative but I woke up this morning with an even more sore throat.. All day I've been getting the mucus out of my nose and throat but nothing seems to be helping. Not even the Penicillin my doctor prescribed me. I have even tried home remedies and still nothing is working.. What do I do now?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of sore throat and ear congestion which can occur due to infection of upper respiratory tract which is reaching Eustachian tube and leading to its dysfunction and imbalance of pressure in both organs.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to apply dry hot compresses to external ear and avoid touching or pricking ear with any sharp object. You should consult ENT specialist once and go for otoscopic examination of ear along with blood and throat swab tests. Doctor may prescribe you antibiotics along with decongestant medications. You should not touch or prick ear with any sharp object. Avoid taking cold carbonated beverages and avoid taking oily, fried and spicy food.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
