Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Swollen Lymph Nodes On Neck

Hey, this past saturday I engaged in a gay sexual act. I did use protection (condom), and other then that I rimmed my partner and kissed. My throat is a little sore, I don't know if it is the lymph nodes or not, but my tendons in my neck are sore. At first I was thinking that they may be sore from rimming my partner for a long time, but I have a habit of psyching myself out thinking I may have contracted HIV as swollen lymph nodes is one of the symptoms. I don't know if my partner was HIV infected or not, but I am getting sort of worried. Please answer. Thank you for your time.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Sore throat and lymph node enlargement can be due to an infection.
Sore throat can often lead to enlargement of lymph nodes.
HIV infection is also accompanied by lymph node enlargement but it is a non-specific condition and occur in large number of conditions.
A course of antibiotic can be taken and soreness of throat will disappear with antibiotic.
You can take saline gargles for providing soothing effect on the throat mucosa.
If you are suspicious of HIV infection, you may get a HIV infection at ICTC centre.
