My husband had a sore throat last night. I took a flashlight to it and one side looked fine the other was bright red with what looked like a thick white string running down it. He went to the doctor today and told me the doctor said it wasn t strep or tonsillitis just a throat infection. He put him on a 10 day course of antibiotics. He has been really tired lately too. Is it possible he has mono and not telling me? I just found out a few weeks ago he had an affair.
no don't jump to conclusions soon. it must just be a viral infection superimposed by bacterial. patients usually have myalgia after viral. mono must have other features like diarrhoea, persistant fever ,some lymph node enlargement etc.wait for some time.let him take full course of medicine. start with betadine gargles. if at all you are suspicious, just convince him for a throat swab.
