Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat, Swollen Lymph Nodes, Headache, Decreased Appetite And Diarrhea
I believe my son has Mononucleosis. Symptoms started on Friday. Sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, headaches, spleen ache, loss of appetite, fatigue, diarrhea. I understand he just needs to take over the counter medication. What do you recommend as far as throat lozenges? Aspirin? TheraFlu?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Your symptoms seems like pharyngitis (inflator your throat rather than mono neucleosis. As of now start a short course of antibiotics for five to seven days preferably amoxicillin/clavulanate combination. Do warm saline gargles and take paracetamol for pain and fever. Generally, it will subside by four to five days. If symptoms persist despite all these, consult a GP and get a monospot test done to rule out mononeuclosis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
