Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat While Suffering From Post Nasal Drip

I started out with post nasal drip throughout last night and into this morning. Purchased OTC Loratadine that the pharmacist recommended. Now I feel my throat to be a little sore. I have been drinking alot of water. What can I do to alleviate the throat symptoms? Thanks!

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

It looks like due to post nasal drip there is infection in throat leading to sore throat.
Taking Loratidine alone is not sufficient..
You should consult an Emergency room and get evaluated so that appropriate investigation like throat swab culture can be done to check whether it is bacterial or viral infection..
You can be advised a course of antibiotics like Azithromycin, anti inflammatory painkillers like Advil and if there is post nasal drip a cough expectorant like Gueifenesin can be advised..
Also do warm saline gargles and suck throat lozenges..
Avoid spicy and cold foods..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
