My daughter has an incredibly sore throat. It hurts enough that she s crying. Her lymph nodes don t feel swollen to me, but they are tender and painful. I don t see any spots in her throat, but my eyesight honestly isn t that great. She has no fever, but has had pretty serious strep throat before. We ve been treating with cough drops, tea, and soup, but it seems to be getting worse not better. Should we be concerned enough to see the ER?
As the pain is severe and is not being resolved with the home remedies, you should consult ENT expert and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like throat swab culture will help in diagnosis and treatment will be done accordingly.
In case of strep throat she will be advised a course of antibiotics, anti- inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.
