Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat

Hi, my friend has a sore throat and first he tried using warm water with salt and it did help relieve the pain for a while but the next day he used warm water with salt and mix in the bactidol with it. Now he is feeling much more pain on his tonsils and he said it hurts when he talks and swallows. I dont know what could help him. Is it okay for him to drink water? Why did it became more painful? Is there anything could be done to remove the pain?

Hello,

Gargle with a pinch of salt in warm water. Since you are having inflammation (pain & swelling) & have difficulty in swallowing, you have caught infection (bacterial / viral). You need antibiotics if you have inflamed tonsils. Sometimes, tonsils need surgery. Throat pain can also be due to Pharyngitis. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT. Get blood, sputum & imaging tests done. In the mean time take, Acetaminophen (tylenol), one SOS when pain & a course of doxycycline. Your treatment will depend on the severity of the pathology detected.
