Hi, I did some competitive long distance running yesterday and really put in my all despite not having done any running or training recently. As a result i got a very dry throat (which i considered normal). However yesterday evening and today, I have had a very sore throat which is worse when i breathe or speak. It isnt stopping me from eating or drinking, however i have been off my food (which is very unusual for me even when I m ill!) I have been coughing up a lot of yellowish phlegm which often has blood in it. I was wondering if you could give me any help and advice on what i should do, thanks.
This is not an unusual situation following strenuous physical activity. You shall avoid cold beverages while doing such activity and drink water at room temperature. Take simple bland foods following such activity. Clear your throat with warm saline gargles. Take steam inhalation. At present you need to take medicine to cure your problem of yellowish phlegm.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
