I am so tired!
Hello, this could be any respiratory tract infection. The symptoms alone are not enough to discriminate between them. Spleen enlargement usually points to infectious mononucleosis but this is not a specific finding. The symptoms you've described sound more like influenza. You haven't mentioned fever, although I assumed your temperature should be high. Increased white blood cell count usually means bacterial infection or infectious mononucleosis. Early in the course of viral disease the white blood cell count may be increased as well (first 24 hours - max 48 hours). Auscultation findings are very important in determining what's going on. The blood tests can also help like the quantitative c-reactive protein or procalcitonin. If (and when) you can provide more details, I'll be glad to comment on them. I wish you a fast and uneventful recovery! Happy New Year!
