Suggest Treatment For Soreness In The Breast And Chest Pain

I am a 56 yr old female. For the past few months I have had a soreness behind my left breast. At first I thought I had laid in a position to long and it would soon go away. It hasn t and turning over in bed or sneezing, coughing is painful. At times it feels like chest pains. I can lift my left arm and feel something is not right. What could be causing this?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my surgical experience, the sore breast with chest pain and that too particularly increased with cough, sneeze indicate possible inflammation of the underlying rib or intercostal ligament most likely. Following measures would help to some extent at present:
- Heating pad application
- Use of spray or ointment containing Linseed oil and Diclofenac
- Analgesic and anti inflammatory medications as etoricoxib, aceclofenac or similar
- Avoiding particular postural adaptations

Consult your primary care for further guidelines.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
