Suggest Treatment For Soreness In The Knee

I had surgery on right fourth hammertoe, excision of right fourth metatrsal head, and gastrocnemius right ankle about 4 weeks ago. I have been feeling fine and back to normal. Then this past Sunday I moved quick and felt a pop in my calf that brought me to my knees. It feels a little sore now and its making me limp a little. Is this normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Pop may be due to injury or damage to tendon or muscle. In most cases, there is no rupture of the tendon/muscle but this is ruled out if the symptoms re severe.

Sudden movement or strain can cause injury to occur. In most cases the use of anti-inflammatory pin medication is effective and can relieve symptoms between 7 and 10 days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James,
