Suggest Treatment For Soreness In The Tonsils

I found a split in my right tonsil and I m so scared as I had never seen it before and the other tonsil is just puffy and a little bit sore but it s just more annoying to swallow rather than a pain. I m so paranoid now to eat or drink anything as I read up on tonsil stones

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Tonsils are lymphoid organs which has primary function to fight infections in the oral cavity region. It is known that these tonsils will get inflammed and enlarged during such instances. However, it only requires to be treated when it causes symptoms like difficulty in swallowing and/or breathing.
Kindly do the following to overcome them.
1. Do salt water gargling with warm water thrice a day.
2. Use steam inhalation to liquefy the mucous for easy drainage.
3. Take mucolytic-decongestant medications in the form of syrup containing Ambroxyl/Bromhexine, Guaifenesin, Phenylephrine and Chlorpheniramine maleate as ingredients.
4. Take a course of oral antibiotics to overcome infection like Azithromycin.
5. Take antiinflammatory-anagesic medication like Ibuprofen after food to overcome pain.
6. Take medicated lozenges for throat soothening effect when necessary.
