Suggest Treatment For Soreness In Thumb After Injury
I got a bouganvilla puncture in my thumb knuckle and it is extremely painful. I cleaned it with peroxide right away and applied topical antibiotic cream. That was 5 hours ago and it is still very painful. Please advise.....thanks! My e-mail is YYYY@YYYY .
As per your complain as you have got pricked with bougainvillea thorn and now have severe pain after 5 hours. It is mainly due to the reason that thorns of certain plants including bougainvillea are toxic and can cause a localized allergic reaction leading to inflammation in the area of puncture leading to redness, swelling, pain. Have a keen look at the area of puncture and if the thorn is still embedded remove it gently using tweezers. You can start doing cool compresses over the area.
Take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen. Apply Steroid based ointment like Triamcinolone Acetonide to reduce inflammation and pain.In case of it still does not improve or continue to worsen consult a General Physician and get evaluated.
Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
