Hello sir,
Thanks for using healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.
1.About "clindamycin".
Topical application of clindamycin is generally used for acne and it is not indicated for
spider bite.It is better to avoid clindamycin for open wound as in your case.
2.About spider bite.
Brown recluse bite is generally non fatal(does not result in death) but can cause pain and
allergic reaction.Sometimes you may develop blisters which may get infected later on.Do the following as first line management.
Do's:
Get a shot of tetanus
immunization.
Take analgesics like ibuprofen for pain and tenderness.
Antibiotics if signs of infection are present in wound.
Antihistamines for itching and allergic reaction.
Do not's:
Do not apply heat.
Do not apply steroid
ointments like
betnovate.
Do not apply tourniquet or suck the blood out.
If your symptoms persist or develop difficulty in breathing kindly consult your general practitioner and in that case you may require steroid injection.
Hope this information helps.
wishing you good health.
Regards.
