Suggest Treatment For Spitting Up Of Blood Despite A Normal Lung X-ray Report

A friend has been spitting up blood and having nose bleeds. She has hurt her back also. She went to her pcp and they said she has a pulled muscle. And on a separate occasion she went for a cold and her nose had been bleeding, they said she had a sinus infection. Later she had a bad nose bleed and was still spitting up blood so she went to the er. They did blood test and a lung x ray and everything came back good. They think it might be ulcers, but she hasn’t seen the gi doctor yet. Could the nose bleed be caused from ulcers. Today she also said she has noticed that when her back hurts her really bad that’s when she spits up blood. Could that be possible and what could that be.

Hello,

As per the description, this type of blood spitting suggests underlying bacterial infection in the respiratory tract, which can be possible with a normal x-ray chest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
