Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi – My wife (62 years of age) lead a normal life. She got spells of dizziness one day along with temporary slur in speech. She was admitted in hospital for 7 days for TIA and many tests were conducted. All proved to be normal except her Carotid Doppler showed a block of 40% on the right side and cholesterol count of 266. She has been on Aspirin and Cholesterol and dizziness control medication since 2 weeks now and strict diet control but her dizziness spells are still there (No slur in speech). Her right side ear feels very heavy (ENT has ruled out infection) although she has also been just diagonised for spondylitis
What is the cause of this dizziness? Is this Carotid blockage something to be concerned about? Is our remedial measure ok or we have to do more? Finally can a normal person (senior) who shows no symptoms, have carotid blockage? If he/she has a blockage of say 60% is it worrisome?
