Suggest Treatment For Sprain On Lateral Knee Ligament

hey about 1 week ago i sprained my lateral knee ligament , i still have a sharp pain when i move in a direction in a fast way would set off the sharp pain - is this a sign it is still strained ? or can i start back at sport and just deal with it hopeing it will go away?
