Suggest Treatment For Sprained And Swollen Knee

almost 2 weeks ago i fell down my stairs and hit my knee on the cement sidewalk them about a week ago i slipped on a wet floor and hit the same knee on ceramic tile. i went to the er they said i have a sprained knee, but within 24 hours of that visit my ankle swelled as well. is this normal?
