Well, that was a surprise ... hello. I stumbled on the second to bottom stair - no prob - problem occurred when my foot slammed into the wall. I am 67 yr old and have always been in fairly good condition ... I was a gymnast in my youth which has held me for a number of years (smile). I am not ignorant about first aid ... I first applied ice on and off and then wrapped it but it has now been 13 days ... have not been using it - spending most of my time lying down - have a wonderful husband ... what should my expectations be because this is d... annoying and I am no help to hubby or the furry babies ... With thanks ... WELL ... THAT WAS A SURPRISE THAT I NEED TO PAY UPFRONT ....... I live in Canada ... I really don t need you ... just thought you might be able to provide input for sprained ankle ....
For sprained ankle, you don't need to be worrying a lot, if there is no fracture. Fracture is suggested by severe pain, large swelling or not able to bear the weight. In such cases you should urgently seek help.
If none of the above is there, then there will only be a little pain and a little swelling. Ice packs will definitely help in such cases. Some over the counter pain killer like Ibuprofen or Paracetamol will also help. Complete bed rest is not advised though heavy work should be avoided.
Hope I have answered your query.
