Suggest Treatment For Sprained Ankle

I sprained my ankle 18 months ago or so and now when I run my ankle clicks and after about a mile I get a severe cramping feeling in my calf which sometimes leads to pins and needles. A friend suggested a sports therapist for massage treatment. Is this a good idea and what else should I be doing?
