Suggest Treatment For Sprained Leg

I have had meniscus and acl done before on my left knee. Today I was walking and it twisted. I didn t fall but it hurts in my lower hamstring and upper calf as well as the back/outside of my knee. Is this something I need to see a dr about right away. Or should I treat like a sprain and ice and rest. I can walk on it slowly.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management apply cold compression and take bed rest for two days.

Try to immobilize the leg in a splint. If you experience pain, over the counter analgesics like aceclofenac or diclofenac may be taken. Generally the symptoms will settle in a couple of days.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedic and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
