Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter fell and landed on her wrist and I think its sprained or broken but hard to tell because she can move her hand but it is swollen. Not sure if she should wait it out til morning or go to the ER. What other signs might she have if its broken
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Possibility of sprain is more because she can move her wrist. Fracture causes severe pain and immobility. So possibility of fracture is less. But in my opinion, you should definitely get done x ray of her wrist to rule out hairline fracture. You should watchful for following things 1. Worsening pain 2. Worsening swelling 3. Difficulty in moving fingers of that hand. 4. Color of the skin becomes red or black. If any of these develop then immediately consult orthopedic doctor. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your daughter. Thanks.
