Suggest Treatment For Spreading Rashes When Diagnosed With Shingles

I have a patch of shingles, diagnosed by my doctor last Tuesday, on my left arm on the underside below my elbow. I noticed today that the rash seems to be spreading a little. My doctor suggested that I keep it covered with gauze and compression tape to contain the liquid from the blisters. Should I leave this bandage on all the time, changing it daily or should I let the air to it for periods at a time? I do not have pain with it at all. I have had the shingles vaccine.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to shingles. I recommend applying an antiviral medication. Such as Acyclovir ointment. You can cover the area with a sterile bandage and change it every day.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
