Suggest Treatment For Staph While Having Cage In Spine After Back Surgery
I had back surgery 3 months back and developed an infection. I had a wound pack for over 30 days. Then the infection was gone. 2 weeks later I started having fever and went back to hospital. I developed staph they said and operated on me and removed the hardware from my fusion. I am bed ridden in hospital and now they tell me they removed the hardware but I have a cage in my spine and it is plastic and they did not remove. They say the infection is on the cage. They were going to wait 2 weeks and put the hardware back in but now who knows. The doctor says I might have to take antibodies the rest of my life. I am in fear of getting A Plastica anemia . I had surgery 1 and half years ago on my back and they put hardware in, which my new doctor now removed and my question is could I have gotten a staph a year and half ago and it remained dormaint? I did have a very high fever then
If you are immunocompromised or having comorbid comorbid conditions like diabetes there is high risk of infection, however staph bacteria can not remain dormant like some viruses.
