Suggest Treatment For Staphylococcus Aureus In Nose Causing Post Nasal Drip

This MODERATE GROWTH STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS is in my nose. I have been struggling with it for some time and asked for a culture from my Dr. The symptoms are weepy nasal cavity in one nostril which dries to a crusty, amber colored scab. How do you think it should be treated? I have used neosporin antibiotic ointment but it hasn t helped very much. I have not heard from Dr. as of yet.

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to Health Care Magic Team.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of post nasal drip due to infection of staphylococcus aureus in nose. Need not to worry. You should visit ENT specialist once and go for physical examination.Doctor can refer for CT scan and blood test. Treatment of the depends on cause as it is bacterial infection then doctor can prescribe antibiotics along with antihistamines and decongestants which relives the symptoms like post nasal drip.Antihistamines(benadryl) are also effective if the causative factor is allergy. If mucus is thick you can also use mucolytic agent like ambroxol to make mucus thin which can be easily removed . Apart from this you should take steam twice a day which will give relief from congestion , also do warm saline gargles .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
