Suggest Treatment For Stiff Neck

Hiya

I have a stiff neck behind my right eardrum/jaw area..its unbearable to turn quickly...its is tender to touch & starts to throb late at night...I cannont remember straining it,have had it for 3 days now & its not getting any better...any ideas ...I use to get a sharp pain in that area often,but would always go away & cause me no grief...
