Suggest Treatment For Stomach Pain And Blood In Stool Of Child
Hi!! 5 year old with stomach pain, a little mucus and bright red tinged blood in stool, stools have been soft, yesterday more stools than normal, some green and gray ans today brown and yellow in color however the mucus and blood in it, small amounts, but pain tonight, this happened in the past, like a months and months ago, but it passed but just a little worried ?????
Mucus and blood in stools may be due to infection. It may also be due to inflammation of large intestine or rectum. If the child is having this type of stools along with stomach pain, you are advised to see a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment of your child.
Child should be kept fully hydrated with fluids like juices etc. The child should be fed frequently, but a small meal each time. Add fiber diet like fruits, vegetables, nuts and berries in the diet of your child. Antibiotics are not effective against viral infections. Therefore antibiotics are administered only if the bacterial infection is confirmed / suspected. Similarly for parasitic infection, anti-parasitic drugs may be needed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
