Suggest Treatment For Stomach Pain, Headache And Ringing In Ears

I have H. Pylori & am taking tettracyclin, metronidazole, omerprazole & peptones bis ol. I am experiencing so much pain & now, when I take my meds I get terrible headaches, ringing in my ears & increased stomach pain, sweating. Are these simply a result of taking these drugs? What can I take to help eliminate these additional symptoms? Please! I am already in so much pain. I had been complaining about the stomach pains since Oct. 2013. I think sometimes doctors may feel that old people are a bother. I am a 68 year old woman & Also, I am concerned that this bacteria may have spread to other organs. Is this possible?

Hello there,
Tetracyclines at times can cause ringing in the ears. It is clinically called as tinnitus and would reduce once you are off the drug.
Stomach pain may be due to the increased motility that is induced by antibiotics like metronidazole and tetracyclines. This will also eventually pass away.
I understand that you may feel neglected or that doctors do not pay you adequate attention but please realize that doctors are human too and with the general case loads that they have everyday it may at times become difficult to give you prolonged periods of attention. I would tell you briefly how you can make human nature work for you. When a doctor asks you about your symptoms do not go into elaborate detail and instead stick to what he/she is asking. Do not question their diagnosis repeatedly as it is like questioning their knowledge/profession and it would seem insulting to some.
H.pylori is a difficult organism to eradicate and hence we have to give long durations of antibiotics.
And no the bacteria would not have spread to other organs , It restricts itself to the stomach.

Hope this helps,
Dr Arun A
